Whether you are old enough to remember the first run of Hopalong Cassidy, I Love Lucy and The Lone Ranger or you're a bona fide rerun addict, your favorite is more than likely featured on one of the Early TV Memories' stamps commemorating the golden age of television.

The stamp sheet's release was celebrated last week at The Greene — a sprawling commercial community in Beavercreek, OH — in honor of local celebrity Rod Serling who earned his B.A. in 1950 from Antioch College in nearby Yellow Springs and who worked at a local radio station before rocketing to Hollywood fame. His series, The Twilight Zone, originally ran from 1959 to 1964.

"What better place to recognize Rod Serling than in Ohio where his career began," said Retail Specialist Janette Degen. "Many of these shows, including The Twilight Zone, had a big influence on people's lives. It's history for many of us."

Lassie and Lucy (acting Retail Manager Nancy Zinsmeister) reminisce.

In addition to postal employees dressing as their favorite TV characters, the event included a stamp unveiling, episodes from the featured Early TV Memories' stamp shows playing on a large-screen TV, free popcorn and prizes.

Other stamp honorees: Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet; Alfred Hitchcock Presents; The Dinah Shore Show; Dragnet; The Ed Sullivan Show; The George Burns & Gracie Allen Show; The Honeymooners; Howdy Doody; Kukla, Fran and Ollie; Lassie; Perry Mason; The Phil Silvers Show; The Red Skelton Show; Texaco Star Theater; The Tonight Show and You Bet Your Life.

The 44-cent commemorative First-Class stamp sheet is available at Post Offices nationwide and at usps.com.
